McCartney Success 2013

If you're unfamiliar with Sir Paul McCartney's new album, NEW, read about them here  and here .

This past year, ex-Beatle, Paul McCartney, went back into the studio to start recording his first solo album in six years! It was released today (December 3, 2013) that this new album was voted the fourth album of the year by Rolling Stone magazine.

"The sound of a 71-year-old Beatle getting back in the ring. McCartney plays to his strengths: Wings-like glam rock, Little Richard howls and, yep, some remarkably Beatlesque pop tunes and George Martin-ish arrangements (thanks partly to Martin's son, Giles, who produced several tracks). "Early Days" challenges lingering misconceptions about McCartney's role in the Beatles ("I don't see how they can remember/When they weren't where it was at"). Sir Paul also engages 21st-century pop with sharp ears, bringing in young-gun producers like Paul Epworth, Mark Ronson and Ethan Johns. He even rocks a quasi-rap flow and some giddy, Gaga-style stadium chants on "Queenie Eye." As Macca understands better than almost anyone, rock & roll is fueled by a hunger for good times and an ageless exuberance.

In late October, right after the albums release, NEW hit #3 in Billboard charts. Not only has NEW been successful for McCartney, but Paul was also awarded the "Best Individual Achievement of the Decade" by Vegfest UK Awards.

"The accolade was presented to Paul in recognition of his continued championing of vegetarianism, such as through his work with the Meat Free Monday campaign. The award was voted for by members of the public prior to the London Vegfest which took place recently at Kensington Olympia." -Paul McCartney via Facebook
Congrats Paul!

Ten days later Paul has released his new music video for track number four, "Queenie Eye". "Queenie Eye" was produced by Paul Epworth and was called "Jaw Dropping" by Q Magazine. Paul was inspired to write the song after a child hood chant from a street game, "Queenie Eye, Queenie Eye, who's got the ball? I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket. O-U-T spells OUT"
"It came from a street game I used to play as a kid. Those kind of things always stick with you. I always liked the rhythm of the chant"- Paul McCartney

NEW consists of 12 new tracks produced by Paul Epworth, Mark Ronson, Giles Martin, and Ethan Johns and was mixed by Mark 'Spike' Stent.
"The original idea was to go to a couple of producers whose work I loved, to see who I got on with best - but it turned out I got on with all of them! We made something really different with each producer, so I couldn't choose and ended up working with all four. We just had a good time in different ways."

"It's funny, when I play people the album they're surprised it's me. A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you'd recognise as mine. I didn't want it to all sound the same. I really enjoyed making this album. It's always great to get a chance to get into the studio with a bunch of new songs and I was lucky to work with some very cool producers. We had a lot of fun."

Paul McCartney's NEW

"...and it's the same with me. I'm more interested in playing than thinking about it."
On August 29,2013 Paul McCartney released some New music that is now available on iTunes, check it out here.

Last year Paul released Kisses On The Bottom, an album of old jazz songs but It's been six years since Paul's last solo album which he wrote the material for. NEW will be released this coming October (14th for UK Fans and 15th for US Fans). It will be an album with 12 new tracks in which Paul wrote with help from new collaborators who will be featured on the album.

Listen to Paul's new song "New":

September 4 Paul spoke with NME about the new debut of NEW Surprisingly David Bowie has had some impact on the process of this album, giving as Paul said "A positive mood." David Bowie released his album The Next Day last March which had took over charts in the United Kingdom, although Paul did not get his inspiration for the album from David Bowie, in fact Paul was already a year into the idea and process of the album when Bowie's album was released. The article reads;
"People are always wondering what he's up to," McCartney said of Bowie, speaking in this week's NME, available digitally and on newsstands from today (September 4). "You hear David's in New York not doing much, then there are reports in the papers about health scares and that he might not be doing anything again. And then he comes out with that... and it really is a good album, with such freshness, and yes, it is inspiring."( Read more on the NME interview here )
It was released that not only does NEW feature a range of collaborators but is being produced by the following four proudcers; Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence and the Machine), Ethan Johns and Beatles producer, George Martin's son, Giles.

"There was a reason to work with each of these guys. Their age, well, it's good working with younger people, but really I don't think about it. Age goes away once you're in the studio."- Paul McCartney (NME September 4, 2013 interview)
NEW was recorded in a total of five months over the length of a year and six months and was mixed by Mark 'Spike' Stent. The recording for this album took place in various places like studios owned by producers, Abbey Road, and Paul's Hog Hill Mill Studio.

Paul has so far released four more track names not including  "New"; "Alligator", "Save Us" (which he released in the NME interview), "Everybody Out There", and "Queenie Eye" (which he told The Sun)

What are you looking forward to in Paul's New Album?
